In June, a team of Year 4 children took part in a tournament at the Platform Cricket Festival along with twelve or more other teams from various local schools. It was a fantastic day of cricket, which saw tremendous progression in skills and understanding of gameplay throughout. Heronsgate came away with bronze medals for placing third overall.

Rugby Multi-School Tournament with UKS2

In April, a squad of nine year 4 and 5 children took part in an inter-school tag rugby tournament against Hawksmoor and Discovery schools at Woolwich Girls’ Polytechnic. Throughout the tournament, the referees and lines officials gradually toughened up on the rules, causing gameplay, skills and strategies to improve alongside. There were a number of inspirational moments, which I’m sure the children will always remember. Heronsgate won every game they played, so were the clear overall winners of the tournament.
